Hello,
This is my company, JDSU.
It is located at AMK TechPoint.
I like the reception area. So bright! So nice colors!
I joined JDSU on June 21, 2010.
It provides a fast-paced environment. I like to go to work surrounded by high-energy people. We constantly keep ahead of competition ..... "It's a never-ending game."
My manager had feedback to the management about my positive and impressive performance. I was promoted within two weeks from the date of employment. I was happy and felt empowered to execute my duties and responsibilities to the best of my abilities. It is a job that required dealing with people. "Working well with people is important. Very little of success comes from working alone." It is also important to keep an open mind instead of having a fixed idea of what I may be tasked to do.
Having said that, being a successful candidate, I had appeared more knowledgeable about the skills and qualities required for this specific job. Paper qualifications are no longer enough to get me the job I desire. That kind of skills and qualities are not developed overnight. Employer was looking for someone like me who are "work-ready" and willing to learn quickly on the job. They were interested in what I know outside my subject or discipline of study. I got this job because of my experience, expertise, personality, track record and that "magical" fit with the job. I demonstrated a broad range of people skills, task-management skills and proactive positive personal qualities as well as subject matter knowledge. They value soft skills like efficient and effective oral and written communication, and the ability to work in diverse teams, building rapport with people at all levels.
In today's workplace, there is a high demand for people who have a knack for developing relationships, especially with customers.
In other words, if I have a high level of emotional intelligence (EQ) and a likeable personality, my chance of securing a job is higher.
Make no mistake, traditional intellectual skills are still important. This includes the ability to critically evaluate evidence and make concrete decisions, argue logically, apply theory to practice and challenge taken-for-granted assumptions plus self-reliance and resilience, adaptability, flexibility and creativity to beat the competition.
