Not too long ago, I was invited to a wedding dinner.
It was held in a hotel ballroom, about 25 tables.
Nowadays, it's very common that waiters and waitresses are actually students of age 15 or 16, working part-time during school vacations. It is a source of income for them.
As they are still young with no working experience and insufficient training, thus unpleasant situation is inevitable.
To be a waiter, manager has to ensure the waiter is well-trained, able to hold and balance a tray with bowls and plates or glasses of soft drinks, using one hand.
This needs skill. It is not as simple as you think.
A poor waiter, due to lack of training, couldn't balance the tray, had dropped the used plates on the floor, next to the seated guest.
Thank God! it didn't drop on the guest, dirty his/her clothes.
Management should seriously look into the training issue, to prevent customers' dissatisfaction.
With education certificates alone are insufficient.
Skill set is very important.
Value experienced employees.
Don't just go for young and sexy or low-rated laborer.
